This is a post that my ex made shortly after we split up.
I remember this day. I was coloring while waiting to go testify a few years ago. When I am stressed, I like to draw. The receptionists actually complimented me on my drawing, which was awesome. I love the Powerpuff Girls to this day, I’ll admit.
Confiding in you about my insecurities must have been such a bother.
Drawing to take my mind off of things such as the guy who held a gun to our heads and having to face him within minutes must make me pretty immature.
Yes, I have insecurities, but I continue to conquer the shit out of them.
My “maturity level”, “being on my own planet”, and “drug free mind” got me doing what I lovemostforaliving.
In conclusion, go fuck yourself. Stop making yourself out to be some sort of victim in all this. You hurt me the most, you fucking bastard. You’re in your own world, you’re the one who’s on drugs, and you’re the ugliest person I have ever met. Breaking up with you and leaving my life behind was the bravest thing I have ever done.
And I still draw them 13 years later TO THIS DAY.
Don’t let anyone ever denounce or dismiss the way YOU cope with stress, especially your art!
“I don’t… know. I think I might have two left feet, honestly.”
“I highly doubt that.”
- The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
So pleased to finally share this commission for Pride Book Crate’s July box (@pridebookcrate on IG & Twitter), which was converted into both a print and a fuzzy cushion cover (which is cozy as heck, omg I love). It’s been SO exciting to see people posting their unboxings, and I’m delighted so many folks are happy with my contribution! They had requested just Arthur & Linus, so I drew inspiration from the farewell party and dressed them in a style to match the soundtrack (Nat King Cole 😭). And then, I couldn’t leave out the children, so, in the framework, you’ll find wee references to their characters. 💙
Pride Book Crate has added more prints of this artwork to their shop!
Bonus: 100% of the profits earned by the print are going to Mermaids, a UK charity supporting gender-diverse kids and their families.
Get your print of Arthur & Linus before they sell out 💙
Theodore (the wyvern from T.J. Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea) demands coins for his hoard. But in the event coins are not available, he will very happily accept a shiny brass button. 😂 Drawing this adorable iridescent little dude has been the highlight of my week.
Y’all, I’m in love with this novel. If you haven’t read it yet, please move it to the top of your list. It’s compassionate and healing and kind and romantic (and queer), and by God, more art from this book is coming. ❤️
I am slowly making my way through the cast of T.J. Klune’s wonderful story, The House in the Cerulean Sea. 🥰 Meet Sal, the sensitive, sweet, and tender-hearted poet of the orphans on Marsyas. I have plans for another image when he is in his were-state, but for now, enjoy him in his element: hanging out with Theodore and cuddling Linus’s cat Calliope!
One of my favorite relationships in The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune is between sprites Zoe and Phee (the mentor and the mentee). As Arthur Parnassus’ right hand person and integral part of the Marsyas family, Zoe does her best and is universally adored. 🧚🏾♀️
I admittedly got a bit wibbly drawing this one. There’s something so lovely about Zoe’s dynamic with all the kids, but especially with Phee, and it hit me right in the feels.
(Linus and Arthur are coming. But first: Talia, Chauncey & Lucy! :D)
